All Aboard the Dawn Spacecraft

In the Astrotech Space Operations facility, a computer chip, about the size of an American five-cent coin, is bonded to a side brace on the Dawn spacecraft. The silicon chip holds the names of more than 360,000 space enthusiasts worldwide who signed up during a “Send Your Name to the Asteroid Belt” campaign to participate in a virtual voyage to the asteroid belt.

The Dawn mission thanks you for participating. If you missed the “Send Your Name to the Asteroid Belt” opportunity, become a Dawn Young Engineer.
